PixelTorque Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2 November 2026
This policy explains what information PixelTorque ("the game"), made by IndieGameStudio ("we", "us"), uses when you play, and why. We collect as little as we need to run the game.
1. Information the game uses
- Steam ownership check. When you start the game, it sends your SteamID and a Steam authentication ticket to our server at indiegamestudio.com. The server asks Steam whether your account owns PixelTorque, then replies yes or no. We use this only to confirm ownership.
- Online multiplayer. Online races run on the Photon networking service from Exit Games. While you race online, Photon processes your IP address, a session ID and your in-game nickname so players can be matched and connected.
- Steam features. Achievements, leaderboards, stats and Cloud Saves are provided by Valve through Steam. Your Steam display name and race times can appear on public leaderboards.
- Game saves on your PC. Your garage, cars, currency and settings are stored on your computer and, if Steam Cloud is on, in your Steam Cloud storage.
- Connection check. The game checks that you are online by requesting a standard test page from Cloudflare, Google or Apple. No personal data is sent in these requests beyond what any web request includes, such as your IP address.
2. What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your information.
- We do not show ads or use advertising trackers in the game.
- We do not ask for your real name, email address or payment details. Purchases are handled by Steam.
3. Third-party services
These services process data under their own privacy policies:
- Valve / Steam: Steam Privacy Policy
- Exit Games / Photon: Photon Privacy Policy
- Discord, if you join our community server: Discord Privacy Policy
4. How long we keep data
Our verification server does not store your SteamID or ticket after it has answered the ownership check, apart from short-term server logs kept for security and troubleshooting.
5. Children
PixelTorque is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
6. Your choices and rights
You can play offline modes without using online multiplayer. You can turn off Steam Cloud in the Steam client. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what data we hold about you and to have it deleted. Contact us using the details below.
7. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and post the new version on this page.
